Censorship

As a parent, and a blogger, there are certain things I choose to censor myself on. You know, things I don't really think is the general internets business. Thing is, I tend to be guarded even in real life. Almost especially so. So, why would I go telling the world my business?

I think the things I censor most are about my kids. Things like their names. Now, granted I actually do call D "D" but I just don't think I want his name associated with the public internet. Which, if you know me, you know how much I love my kids names but there are way to many creepy creeps out there. I have had people say "Well, you call them by name in public places so what difference does it make?". Well, see, this internet thing, also known as the world wide web, it goes all over the world. Last I checked, the whole world doesn't shop at my local Target.

Our general health situation isn't exactly public knowledge as far as I am concerned either. We all have our issues and unless its something drastic, you won't usually hear me mention it in a public arena. Heck, sometimes I don't even mention it to people inside my circle. I think there is just so much stigmata associated with peoples health. I have done a ton and a half of research on things and lets just say I am not exactly mainstream when it comes to my families health and such. We don't do drugs of any sort around here. No OTC, no prescriptions, no vaccines, etc. Imagine the looks we get from people. Pathetic really. So, I just don't really talk about it much (except maybe a little a couple of sentences ago).

Then of course there are things like my address and/ or exact location. I live close to Atlanta. We went to the beach. That is enough info, right? I guess maybe that makes me an oddball out. Most other things I don't mind sharing. Honest! I just think that, with times like they are now, you have to be careful with what information you give out. Peoples is crazy! You never know who is lurking around out there and gathering information. Call me paranoid if you want, but I am confident my family is safe and that is what matters to me!

  1. I made my blog somewhat secret so that random people who don't know the exact address can't go checking up on my blog. May be a suggestion for you - then you know who's on your blog! You can actually make it "secret" and ONLY allow people YOU want checking your blog. They have to actually accept your invitation. I've done that with another blog and it works great!
