One Month Old

My little man is a month old today. Let me just tell you, it is insane how fast it has gone. Of course, he is just an amazing baby so that has made everything very easy. He sleeps like a rock, nurses like a champ, and is growing like a weed. As of today, he is up 2.4lbs and 3.5 inches! We spend most of our time just snuggling or running after the big boys. It won't be long before he is running with them.

And he's absolutely perfect. Baby B came on August 12th, 2015 at 4:14pm. He was by far my smallest baby at 6lbs 12oz and 18 inches long but considering he was technically a preemie, he was still a good size! He was born pink and screaming blue murder with Apgar scores of 9 and 10, which was a blessed relief.

He came home with us a few days after he was born and we are all absolutely smitten with the little guy. I will share more about his birth and the situation surrounding his early arrival soon but for now, here is some baby squish cuteness to hold you over.

Two Swimmy Fish

Its official, both my boys can swim! D learned to swim unassisted last Summer but has only gotten stronger and more confident this year. Lately he has been perfecting his dive. Its progressed from a cringe worthy belly flop to a much more sophisticated looking dive.



K on the other hand refused to be in the water and not be wrapped around your face and/ or have a swim vest on until this year. I even tried swim lessons to make it easier and it didn't help.

At the beginning of the swim season this year, I got him a new vest and let him have at it. He has been so much more confident this year its almost like a different kid. He jumps in and puts his face in and swims all around the pool chatting up strangers all day as long as he had his vest. If I took the vest off he would panic. Until recently. His confidence I  the water has grown by leaps and bounds in the last month. Then, today, I decided to try again.



Little fart had me snowed! He took off across the pool like it was no big deal. Jump in and swim to you, mom? No problem. Go fetch that diving ring from water over my head? Check. The only thing I cant convince him to do is backfloat. He is convinced he's going to drown on his back for some reason. Still, I'm impressed as heck. First they taught themselves to use the potty, then they taught themselves to swim. No complaints here!

No Days Like Snow Days!

This week, Atlanta got hit with a rarity. An early winter ice storm that completely shut down the city. I'm talking apocalyptic in a sad and truly Southern kind of way. People stuck in their cars for hours and hours, kids had to sleep at school because the buses couldn't navigate, we were stuck where we were for literally 4 days straight while the government struggled to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. 

In the meantime though, my boys had a blast playing in the snow and staying home for an impromptu vacation! We played outside and drank hot cocoa to our hearts content. Then we napped and snuggled while watching endless rounds of Sheriff Callie (shoot me). 

Of course going back to school on Monday is going to be a struggle for all of us but it has been nice to have a break to just hang around for a bit and be silly. I have a feeling this is not the last we will see of Winter's nasty side this year. I just hope that Atlanta is better prepared for it next time!

Au Revoir 2013

Well, 2013 has come and gone. Even at its worst, its been better than some of the previous years. I won't complain. I've found happiness and joy in 2013. I've lost and I've gained. Admittedly, I have been rather absent in 2013 as well. Call it a mental health year I guess.

Still, there were a lot of memories made. Just like years past, I want to share some of my favorites from the year with you. Even when my heart isn't in it completely, I do still love to share my little corner of the world with all of you.

In January, I spent some time getting my groove back and battling the Thursdays.

February brought our Staycation in the ATL and we welcomed Spring with open arms. 

March was a month of exploring new cities and spending time in a beautiful place. 

April saw the joy of two handsome boys and the shock of a nation.

In May, I bought my shiny and took a little trip with my boys.

June brought us to the Braves game and a little relaxation time at the local beach.

In July, we got a ridiculous amount of rain but we still found time for some fun.

August saw our television debut!

October meant a partial Hootie

September, November, and December were unfortunately quiet around here though. Like I said, mental health... months? That doesn't mean there wasn't fun times to be had, just that there were so many I didn't share. 

As for the 2013 list? It was a big failure this year. I hate it and its really bothered me in the last couple of months but there just didn't seem to be enough time this year. Of course that just means that next year will bring some of the same challenges but I am okay with that. I am more than ready to bring the A game and get it done for the new year.

A Little Aquarium Fun In Gatlinburg, TN

State Fair Fun with My Loves

A couple of weekends ago we took the night and went to the North Georgia State Fair. It was nice to get out in the cooler weather and take a little time as a family. The boys were in complete awe at all the lights and sounds at first but it didn't take long for them to warm up to it and we had an amazing, relaxing night of nothing but pure fun!

I think the boys enjoyed the carousel the most which of course warms my heart to no end. I have always held a special place in my heart for the carousel myself and I love being able to share the joy.

Of course littles was too short to ride a couple of things that his big brother was able to and that led to some pretty effective pouting. Needless to say, he got an extra special treat to make up for it.

The warmth these little boys create in my life is immeasurable. I am one lucky mama. <3 p="">

Wilderness at the Smokies

This past weekend, the boys and I took a mini getaway to the Smoky Mountains. We went one a quick weekend jaunt to Wilderness at the Smokies, an indoor water park and hotel. We spent most of our time playing and swimming but we also spent quite a bit of time at the all you can eat buffet. We are all exhausted AND stuffed to the gills. I hope we can go back sometime soon for a longer trip!
